Food for thought:

1. What role do the “Laws of the Game” play?

2. What role does common sense play?

3. Can youth soccer teach right and wrong?

4. Are we teaching right and wrong?

Please Help the Village of Hope Uganda!!!!

My name is Destinee Dipalo and I attend Northern Lebanon High School.  I am doing a senior project for school and recently learned about an issue that I felt I could possibly make a difference in. There is a program called Village of Hope Uganda which is in Africa (see map below). The children in this village have lost everything they knew to be normal. Many have lost their parents to war or sickness. All of the stories that I have read regarding the children that are now living in this village have brought me to tears. Many have either been abducted by soldiers or have been forced to murder their parents in the most horrible ways. Through all this pain and suffering there is one thing that brings them joy. The thing that brings them joy oddly is the game of soccer. Usually the children play with anything they can find. A woman who has been to the village told me that if these children had a pair of soccer cleats it would be like having a Cadillac. Anything will be greatly appreciated. Some ideas are soccer balls, soccer cleats, old soccer shorts, old soccer jerseys, etc.  Please feel free to check out the website for Village of Hope Uganda at www.villageofhopeuganda.comIf you have any items to donate, please contact me at:Cell phone: 717-418-0675 orEmail: dppalodi@gmail.com

Fall registration is open and you can go to the website in order to register.  Be sure to read all of the information.  You do not need to print, sign, and mail a Code of Conduct.  You will sign one in the fall before the season starts indicating that you have read it and understand it.  Due to the loss of uniforms, we have been forced to slightly raise fees.  To give you a better understanding, we purchased over 200 uniforms a couple of years ago and have about 100 left.  We have repeatedly asked for coaches and parents to return them in a timely fashion, but have not had much luck.  Thank you to those that have been responsible and turned them in without being asked repeatedly.  Your efforts are truly appreciated and saved us time.

We had 5 teams qualify for the Lebanon Valley Youth Soccer league playoffs this year.  This means that 5 out of 6 eligble teams qualified, which is great for a small club the size of ours.  This shows the tremendous effort that was put forth starting this summer and through the fall.  The dedication of our players and coaches has been great.  The teams are:

U-12 Girls NL Ladyhawks Coached by Jennifer Cool
U-12 Girls NL Vipers Coached by Josh Boisvert
U-12 Boys NL Warriors Coached by Guy Miller
U-12 Boys NL Blast Coached by Todd Schwalm
U-14 Boys NL Warriors Coached by Russ Reinhardt

Coach Miller's Warriors lost a tough game to Myerstown, 1-0.  Coach Schwalm's Blast lost to Annville-Cleona, 4-2, in a high scoring game.

August 26, 2009

Thank you to all who showed up for the coaches clinic.  We had nearly 20 people who participated and learned new ways of teaching the game to our kids.  This will lead to fun and excitement for the players.

Also, we earned $175 fro our Wendy's night.  That was a great turnout.

We are trying to complete an audit from our spring season.  We use the state's automated database for inputting information and rely on it to be correct.  If you receive emails from it and the information is wrong, let us know in order to complete the audit.  We apologize for any inconvenience, but thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

March 17, 2009

The NLSC recently had it's March monthly meeting and made some changes to the tryout process.  There will not be any tryout for U-8 nor U-10 boys and girls.  The teams will be determined by the player's age, with the older kids being put on the first team and the younger players being placed on the second team.  In other words, the first team for U-10s will will be 9  years old and the second team will be 8 year olds.  This will also be the same guidelines for U-8s.  We will utilize this process for a couple of years to determine the results and progression.  There will not be a tryout for U-14 boys or girls, unless we have enough players to form more than one team in that age group.  Once the registrations are received and it is determined that a tryout is necessary, we will contact the players by email and advise as to when the tryout date is.

We will also be having another summer camp this year and those dates will be posted once confirmed.  On the last day of camp, we will be having a Fun Day.  The Board is also looking for individuals and companies that would like to sponsor teams.  For moer information, contact June Dipalo.  We look forward to having a Coaches Recognition/Year End party and Youth Night this fall once again.  Anyone wishing to volunteer their time or have ideas, please contact Paul Wehrman

November 15, 2008

The NLSC would like to congratulate all of our teams for having a successful season.  Special congratulations goes to U-12 Boy's Warriors, coached by Guy Miller, Ron Merkel, and Mike Daubert, who won the league championship,  2-0 over Iona!!!  The U-14 Girls Strikers, coached by Paul Wehrman and Dan Wise, also played in the championship, but lost to Iona, 2-1.  We would like to thank everyone for their support.
