Food for thought:

1. What role do the “Laws of the Game” play?

2. What role does common sense play?

3. Can youth soccer teach right and wrong?

4. Are we teaching right and wrong?

The NLSC wants to thank everyone who attended Youth Night.  Each player on the field enjoyed themselves and the high school players got a kick out of watching the youngsters run around.  The high school players got a chance to remember what it was like when they were that age.

At the Annual meeting held in January, Al Root was elected as Secretary.  He replaces Heidi Barry, who chose not to run again.  We would like to thank Heidi for her committment to our club and all of her efforts.  June Dipalo was reelected as Club President.  Meetings are the best way to give the Board suggestions and feedback on what is happening in our club.  We will again be having tryouts this spring for the fall season and more details will come.

The NLSC U-12 boy's teams played hard on November 10, 2007, in the Lebanon Valley Youth Soccer League's Championships.  In the end, they lost to Annville-Cleona and Iona in separate divisions.  It was great to see two of our teams make it to the finals and playing in the last game of the season.  This is a start that we need to continue by working hard, getting involved, and adding to the excitement.  Congratulations to our boys, coaches, and proud parents!!

The NL Strikers U-13 girls recently competed in the CPYSC Blast tournament and took second place.  It was a fun tournament and good competition.  Go to the Pictures page to see the girls.   The NL Bulldogs U-12 boys also participated in the tournament and had a great time.  These tournaments provide exposure to our players to different styles of soccer and a more competitive environment.  If interested in tournament play, whether a player or coach, contact Paul Wehrman.  The club wants to encourage more teams to get involved to raise the level of play.

Thank you to eveyone who attended Youth Night at the high school.  It was a great time for the kids and we hope to see each of them playing in the stadium one day.  Our club also made a presentation to Tim Auman, who was representing the NL Education Foundation.  It was a pledge for $10,000 toward the score board on the Varsity Soccer field.  The score board has been installed and is being used.

The NLSC had Charlie Grimes, Lebanon Valley College Men's Head Coach and Director of 1st Touch Soccer Academy, come out and provide a coaches clinic.  This was an opportunity for our coaches to learn developmental drills and techniques to take back to their players.  Charlie played soccer as a youth with the NLSC and graduated from Northern Lebanon High School.  He went on to play collegiately at nationally recognized Elizabethtown College and played professionally for the Reading Rage.  The clinic was well received by those in attendance.  The NLSC plans on making this an annual event for our coaches.  We want to thank Charlie for his support of our club.

The NL Strikers U-12G finished the spring season in second place, with a 6-2 record. They competed in the Central Penn Youth Soccer League and are coached by Paul Wehrman and Dan Wise. They just got back from playing in the Neptune Soccer 33rd Annual Summer Kickoff in Neptune, NJ.  It was a fun mix of soccer, beach, and boardwalk.

The Northern Lebanon girls traveled to Doylestown for their first round PIAA game against District 1 champion New Hope-Solebury.  Although they played a tough game and got a goal from Alicia Snyder, the NL girls lost 2-1.  This was a great season and congratulations to Coach Rittle and the team.  We are already looking forward to next year!!

CONGRATULATIONS to the Northern Lebanon High School Varsity Girl's team and Coach Rittle!! Not only have they qualified for the District 3 tournament for the first time in school history, but they have won their first two games in the tournament and automatically qualified for the PIAA tournament. The NL girls beat York Catholic 7-1 and then beat a tough Trinity team 1-0 on a lone goal by Alex Flanick. This has been a great season thus far, but it is just getting started!! The NL girl's next game is this Saturday at 1:00PM. They will play highly rated Lancaster Country Day School (15-0) at the Central Dauphin Middle School. Support our high school team in their quest for a state championship. Below are articles from the recent games.
